Denbury injects carbon dioxide into its 82-year-old Hastings field. Traditional drilling methods rely on the earth's natural subterranean pressure to drive oil to the surface, yielding about 15 percent of a reservoir's total oil. Enhanced recovery methods including those using CO2 can help boost the yield to 50 percent.
