Priming the Permian Basin

Well pads, flattened and cleared to make way for drilling equipment, cover portions of the Permian Basin in west Texas. The Permian has been a cradle of traditional drilling since 1921, producing 32 billion barrels. Some experts forecast that with carbon dioxide-enhanced oil drilling techniques, the Permian can yield another 32 billion barrels, or more.
